surgical needles
Anchor’s proud beginning goes back to manufacturing eyed suture needles starting in November 1925. As we celebrate over 85 years in business, much has changed. We now offer needles for human surgery, dentistry, post mortem and veterinary use.
How to order:
Our needles are available both sterile (disposable) and non-sterile (reusable) unless otherwise indicated.
For Anchor disposables: Order by needle number and add the suffix “DC” for disposable cartons of 40 needles (20 pouches), example 1824-4DC or add the suffix “DG” for disposable gross boxes of 144 needles (72 pouches), example: 1824-4DG
For Anchor reusables: Order by needle number and add the suffix “R” for reusable, example: 1824-4R
Needles images are not shown to full scale.
For your convenience see the CONVERSIONS guides for styles and sizes equivalent to other brands of surgical needles.
Needles are available both sterile (disposable) and non-sterile (reusable) unless otherwise indicated.

Years of exacting experience in the production of needles has been applied to the production of our Dental Needles. They are designed to be virtually painless, atraumatic, and perfectly sharp to give maximum patient comfort. In addition, every needle passes an optical inspection.
Needles are sterilized by gamma irradiation and their sterility is guaranteed by testing every production lot prior to release.

Anchor Reusable Needles are non-sterile and are packed in units of six (minimum order: 2 packages, 1 dozen). Each unit is contained in the widely known Anchor purple glassine envelope and sleeve that clearly identifies the quantity, style and size. proper use
- DO NOT CLAMP HOLDER DIRECTLY ON THE EYE
- DO NOT GRASP NEEDLE POINT
- DO NOT REUSE BENT OR DAMAGED NEEDLES

Improper surgical technique in the use of a suturing needle may result in needle breakage. Small needle holders should be used on fine gauge needles and heavy holders on heavy gauge needles to avoid undue stress and breakage. As the weakest part of a needle is the eye and the point, Anchor needles are manufactured with a flat area on the shank to facilitate proper clamping and to prevent turning.
Apply holder on flat part about 1/4 of length from the eyed end do not clamp holder directly on the eye.
When withdrawing needles, clamp on shank about 1/4 length from the point do not grasp needle point.
Examine needle carefully after each use. If needle becomes bent or damaged during use, withdraw and discard needle.
Do not reuse bent or damaged needles.
These tables are intended for use as guides in converting from other needle manufacturers code numbers to Anchor equivalencies. There could be instances when an exact conversion on a specific needle is not possible. In these instances, we will provide comparable needle styles for you to decide your preference. Anchor also has the capability of duplicating virtually all special needles. For the most accurate conversions, it is recommended that product samples be forwarded to us. For conversions from other manufacturerʼs needles please contact us.
